PC Game Review - “Burger Rush”

Burger RushThink you can help Heidi build the perfect hamburger? Find out in “Burger Rush” for the PC.

Story - So, here’s Heidi, a young woman fresh out of college and ready for culinary school. Instead this poor girl opens a burger joint. A little blase for my taste but it’s a puzzle game after all. Once Heidi has her burger shop open it’s your job to help her fill orders by lining up ingredients in rows of three or more. Between each level you take Heidi to the local market to pick up new burger recipes and the like to speed up productivity as well as keep your customers happy.

Audio - Even if the game is about making burgers I almost expected an amazonian style track to start playing a la every other puzzle game made on the PC. Instead you’re greeted with a 1950’s doo wop song while the sounds of sizzling meat and ching-ing cash registers collide to give you a feeling of being back in a small-town burger joint. Despite what I expected, the audio was well done here. My only complaint is the little bit of voice-over work that was done. I can only stand hearing “Burger’s ready! and Thank you!” so much.

Control - Sadly, there isn’t enough to really touch base on here. If you’ve played any puzzle game on the PC, than you know the controls already. Simple point and click interface. Even though interacting with your customers and being able to add fries and a drink to it is fun, it’s still just point & click.

Artificial Intelligence - The A.I. here is a little lax. Your customers are repetitious and after about 20 minutes of playing it becomes quite easy to keep your customers happy while still having time to line up all your ingredients.

Final Thoughts - If you’re into puzzle games you may enjoy this entertaining little romp into the world of fast food. It’s definitely not for everyone. I say skip it though you can decide for yourself by playing the Free Trial Version. Who knows? If you like it, you can purchase the Full Version from Arcade Town.
